Challenge
As surgical procedures become increasingly reliant on 3D visualization, the ability to view stereoscopic endoscopic images in real time is critical for precision and safety. Vision Engineering’s DRV System (Deep Reality Viewer) offers a unique glasses-free 3D viewing experience. However, its use in medical environments was limited by a lack of universal compatibility with existing stereo camera systems.
Hospitals and medical device manufacturers use a wide range of stereo cameras, each with different video standards and formats. To unlock the full potential of the DRV System, Vision Engineering needed a solution that could deliver real-time, low-latency video streaming from any stereo camera source without compromising image quality or stereo accuracy.

Outcome
Vision Engineering partnered with Wayland to customize and integrate the Wayland Platform, creating seamless compatibility between the DRV System and a wide range of stereo camera sources.
Wayland's customized application provides full stereo support, compatibility with multiple 3D formats and the rendering precision required to achieve the depth and spatial clarity DRV users expect.
The result: a turnkey solution that makes the DRV system universally compatible, technically validated and commercially viable in clinical environments. By working with Wayland, Vision Engineering delivered this advanced solution in 4 months, eliminating the need to build dedicated R&D and software engineering teams internally, reducing time, cost, and complexity.
